Olympic Coast Alliance Conservation Issues
The west side of the Olympic Peninsula is one of the most ecologically diverse and fascinating places in the United States. It encompasses dense rainforests, wild rivers, a rugged coastline, and one of the most pristine marine areas in the world. Unfortunately, the Olympic Coast has suffered tremendous abuse over the past century with logging, over-fishing, and oil spills taking their toll. The coast has been protected, to some extent through creation of the Olympic Coast National Marine Sanctuary, the Olympic National Park, National Wildlife Refuges, and progressive management over the past decade by state and federal agencies.

Through a strategic planning process, the Olympic Coast Alliance has identified over 40 conservation issues that are important for protection and restoration of the biological integrity of the Olympic coastal ecosystem.
