Goals
Public Education and Outreach:
- Increase awareness of the Olympic coastal ecosystem and associated priority environmental issues among residents of the Olympic Peninsula and Puget Sound area.
- Foster ownership and involvement in addressing coastal environmental issues among residents and organizations of the Olympic Peninsula and Puget Sound area.
Environmental Issue Advocacy:
- Develop scientifically based position statements on high priority coastal environmental issues.
- Assure that quality comments on coastal environmental issues are provided to policy makers.
OCNMS Support:
- Recruit volunteers to support OCNMS public education, ourtreach, and research activities.
- Increase public participation in the OCNMS Management Plan review process.
Strong Working Relationship with Coastal Tribes:
- Honor tribal sovereignty, rights, and trust responsibilities, and build a strong working relationship with coastal tribes to identify, define, and address environmental issues and opportunities for restoration. Cooperate with tribal people and embrace tribal efforts to address and resolve environmental issues.
